Their mission is to elevate voices from the grassroots and amplify sounds that speak to the heart. From late-night sessions in Kingston to worldwide digital streams, YJ Records delivers music that reflects real emotion, real culture, and real Jamaica—from the yard to the world, one riddim at a time.
Philosophy / Vision – YJ Records
At YJ Records, our vision is simple: stay true to the culture, empower through creativity, and let the music speak from the soul. We are driven by the belief that authentic music—born from real experiences, struggles, and triumphs—has the power to heal, inspire, and unite people across borders.
Founded by brothers Yash and Juju, our label is rooted in the spirit of resilience, unity, and artistic freedom. We don’t follow trends—we set our own rhythm. From the raw energy of dancehall and the meditative pulse of lo-fi to experimental blends of reggae, hip hop, and electronic sounds, we create music that reflects both modern Jamaica and the global underground.
We aim to uplift independent artists, especially those whose voices are often overlooked. YJ Records is a safe space for creative expression, where artists are encouraged to tell their truth, refine their sound, and connect deeply with their audience.
At the heart of our philosophy is a yard-style work ethic: do it from scratch, do it with heart, and do it for the culture.
From Kingston to Canada, from street corners to global stages—YJ Records is on a mission to deliver real music for real people.
Yashpal “Yash” Lindsay – Artist Biography
Yashpal Lindsay, professionally known as Yash or Fireball, is a multifaceted music producer hailing from Kingston, Jamaica, now based in Canada. Though miles away from his birthplace, his musical foundation is firmly rooted in the vibrant rhythms and culture of Jamaica.
Yash's passion for music was sparked at an early age, heavily influenced by his younger brother, Juju (aka Jujunile), who operated a home studio in their family yard in Kingston. This early exposure to recording sessions, vocal production, and music marketing planted the seeds for what would later become a dedicated creative journey. Countless hours spent in that humble studio laid the groundwork for Yash’s deep connection to sound.
During the global COVID-19 pandemic, Yash found an unexpected turning point. Amid isolation and uncertainty, he reconnected with his creative core and produced his very first dancehall riddim, Jamcan Affection, in collaboration with his brother. The project not only reignited his musical drive but opened doors to experimenting with a wider array of sounds.
Entirely self-taught, Yash soon found his niche in electronic and lo-fi music. Captivated by the genre’s mellow, soulful energy, he immersed himself in creating beats that echo tranquility, nostalgia, and healing. His work is heavily inspired by the soothing essence of coastal Jamaica—the ocean breeze, the calming waves, and the reflective mood that only home can bring.
To Yash, lo-fi is more than a genre; it's a form of emotional expression and therapy. His compositions aim to relieve stress, ease anxiety, and speak to those quietly seeking peace. There’s a riddim for every mood, and his mission is to help listeners find theirs.

Joel “Juju” Lindsay – The Creative Powerhouse
Joel David Lindsay, better known in music and business circles as Juju, is a dynamic, multi-talented figure in the Jamaican creative scene. A true renaissance man, Juju wears many hats: blogger, producer, composer, studio engineer, artist manager, graphic designer, and entrepreneur. Simply put—Juju does it all.
Born to Margaret and Roy Lindsay in Kingston, Jamaica, Juju’s journey began at just six years old. Fascinated by music and electronics, he started out as a young DJ and technician, pulling apart and fixing radios, while entertaining the community with his growing sound system skills. His love for the artform only deepened with time.
Juju’s career took a serious turn when he crossed paths with Jekko, the son of legendary Barry from The Heptones. Recognizing raw talent in Jekko, Juju began managing him and quickly immersed himself in the business and creative mechanics of the music industry. Within just six months, he had mastered the essentials and began crafting riddims on his computer using FL Studio—a bold move for someone who couldn’t yet afford traditional music gear like drum machines.
Honoring a name given to him by his late father, Roy, Juju founded Juju Music Production, a label that would become his creative and entrepreneurial platform. His first official project was with his cousin K Kryss. Impressed by his work, Juju’s mother invested in his dream—funding more professional studio sessions and even pressing 45s for distribution.
Despite early promise, Juju faced harsh realities of the industry. DJs dismissed his work. Distributors laughed, telling him his sound would never sell in Japan—or anywhere. Pills were thrown his way, and doors were closed. But Juju never folded. He stopped listening to critics and followed his gut.
His persistence landed him a job at Father Romey Studio, where he worked with major Jamaican icons like Vybz Kartel, John Holt, Ninja Man, Cutty Ranks, Monster Shack Crew, and Captain Barkey. Though his time there was cut short over financial disputes, the experience was invaluable.
From there, Juju took the independent route again—this time building a home studio from scratch with minimal resources and some support from the artist Jomoney and his brother. What he lacked in industry backing, he made up for with grit, creativity, and consistency.
Today, Juju continues to produce music daily from his own space. While mainstream recognition remains elusive, his catalog speaks for itself. With multiple singles and albums distributed across all major digital platforms, Juju remains focused, relentless, and rooted in his mission to deliver authentic Jamaican music to the world.
